Pour drinks for others
In group settings, it's considered thoughtful to pour drinks for others rather than yourself. Hold the bottle with both hands when serving someone senior.
Do's
- Watch others' glasses and offer to refill
- Hold your own glass with both hands when receiving
- Say "kanpai" (cheers) before the first sip
Don'ts
- Don't pour your own drink first in a group
Tips
If you don't want more, leave your glass nearly full—an empty glass is an invitation to refill.
