Some streets, especially in geisha districts like Gion in Kyoto, restrict photography of people and private alleys.
Do's
- Look for signs prohibiting photography
- Ask permission before photographing people
- Respect private property and entrances
Don'ts
- Don't chase or surround geisha or maiko
- Don't take photos inside shops without asking
