Can you cross the road on a red light in Japan?
Legally no, and in practice almost nobody does — people wait at an empty crossing at two in the morning. It is not only about the law: crossing early in front of a queue of people, and in front of children, reads as making yourself an exception. Wait for the green, even when the road is clearly empty.
